Our Beginning

keen-mesa started in 2014 when two financial professionals noticed a troubling pattern among their colleagues and friends: well-educated people struggling with basic money management. Despite successful careers, many lacked fundamental skills like budgeting, understanding compound interest, or planning for retirement.

We realised that traditional education systems rarely address practical financial skills. University teaches complex theories but not how to manage a household budget. Schools cover mathematics but not how interest rates affect everyday decisions.

Our founders established keen-mesa to fill this gap, creating accessible courses that translate financial concepts into actionable knowledge for people at every life stage.

What Guides Our Work

Financial literacy changes lives. When someone understands how money works, they make better decisions about spending, saving, and investing. They experience less financial stress and gain more control over their future.

Our teaching philosophy centres on practical application. Every concept we introduce connects to real situations our students face. We use UK-specific examples, current economic conditions, and scenarios drawn from everyday life in Liverpool and beyond.

  • Clarity over complexity in all explanations
  • Practical exercises that mirror real financial decisions
  • No-judgement environment for discussing money
  • Curriculum updated to reflect current financial realities

Our Approach to Financial Education

Small Group Learning

We limit class sizes to ensure every participant receives individual attention. Questions get answered, exercises get reviewed, and nobody falls behind due to pace.

Real-World Focus

Theoretical knowledge alone does not change behaviour. Our courses include practical assignments using actual financial tools and scenarios students will encounter.

Judgement-Free Space

Money carries emotional weight. We create an environment where students can discuss their financial situations honestly without fear of criticism or embarrassment.
